The Bear & Ragged Staff is a wonderful Grade II listed Tudor pub with original features, including ancient fireplaces, beamed ceilings and flagstone floors. Cosy up with some delicious pub food in the inn, or relax with a drink on the terrace when the weather is warm. Winding stairs lead to quirky, comfortable rooms – each complete with everything you'd need for a restful night's sleep.
The rooms
Four rooms are situated in the converted Old Cottages, whilst a further five are located above the pub (two doubles, two connecting kings and a family suite sleeping up to four people). Each room has its own charm and character, in keeping with the historic nature of the property. Please note that the rooms above the pub are not hugely accessible to guests of less than full mobility. The Old Cottage rooms are more accessible, with wider, shorter steps.
On the doorstep and nearby
The village of Cumnor is just a few miles from the centre of Oxford, so be sure to head in to the beautiful city if you can. Visit the 17th century stately home of Blenheim Palace, wander around the University of Oxford Botanic Garden, or head to the Sheldonian Theatre for a performance. Oxford is also home to a variety of shops, bars, restaurants, museums and galleries – so you'll be spoilt for choice with so many things to see and do.
